Nation Innovation Awards

As suggested by National Innovation Agency under The Ministry of Science and Technology, On 20th June 2006, the cabinet had arrived with approval on program that wishes to honor his majesty the king as “The father of Thai innovation” in order to show gratitude as well as respect to the king’s wisdom and ability in innovative area in which he used technology to solve the problem of soil acidification, turning it to usable condition for agricultural purpose, according to the his majesty’s initiative project called “klaeng-din” or so-called “tricking the soil” which was firstly done in Narathiwat province. The program also included nominating 5th of October as “National Innovation Day”.

“Klaeng-Din”, the royal soil improvement project”, emphasizes the notion of integrating between technology and managerial innovation to find the most suitable solution to solve the problem of soil acidification which has never been found nowhere else and no one has ever successfully solved the following problem and brought it to the eyes of public. This shows his majesty the king’s wisdom and ability that truly qualifies him to be “an innovator”.

On annual National Innovation Day, NIA decides to hold the ceremony that pays tribute to His majesty the king as “the father of Thai innovation” and holds the award presentation ceremony so as to induce and honor all innovators in all section that have made benefits to national economy and society as a whole.

National Innovation Award has been held since 2004 with the objectives to honor people who invent and advance innovation which leads to an enhancement of national economy and society as a whole, to encourage the success in innovation derived from the integration of creativity and knowledge, and to induce innovation in Thai society as well as to strengthen innovation culture and awareness.

Prestigious Awards

  • Each category will be presented as following;
    • Winner will receive His Majesty the King Rama IX's trophy with an inscription of their name, project name.
    • First runner-up will receive an honorable trophy with an inscription of their name.
    • Second runner-up will receive an honorable trophy with an inscription of their name.
    • For Economic contribution category (Large organization) and Innovative organization category, the winners will only receive His Majesty the King Rama IX’s trophy with an inscription of their name. Also, the First runner-up will receive an honorable trophy with an inscription of their name only.
  • Winners will receive the following benefits:
    • They will receive certificate.
    • They are given with an opportunity to enhance their innovative potential by partaking in training program at world’s leading innovative organization abroad.
    • Free budget from National innovation agency will be given to winners to develop their innovation further.
    • Widespread media publicity.
    • They are authorized to use emblem of National Innovation Agency along with their innovation in a period of three years.
