The Reinvented Toilet is a national innovation of sewage processing and disinfection in on-site sanitation. Solid and liquid wastes are separated using the 'Zyclone' separator. The solid wastes are disinfected and dried by a screw-heating unit while liquid wastes undergo treatment with the use of biotechnology. The treated liquid is designed to re-circulate in order to increase the overall treatment performance and subsequently disinfected by the electrochemical system. A bio-scrubber system is integrated into the system to eliminate odors and control water, noise, air and chemical pollution. With its compact size, the product is suitable for use in limited spaces and perfectly fitted to both existing and newly-constructed toilets. Water quality meets the Non-Sewered Sanitation Systems ISO30500 Standard, meaning it can be 100% reused in toilets and for agricultural uses. Treated solid waste can also be used for improving soil quality.
With this innovation, there is no need for a sewerage system, minimizing the burden of community waste treatment. Moreover, the product is solar powered, making it ideal for use in remote areas lacking electricity and utilities, such as in some developing countries in Asia and Africa. The product can also play a part in curbing the spread of gastrointestinal diseases, such as diarrhea and cholera.
